Lake James Results
The final stop of the Fall for the 2019 BASS Youth NC Western Series landed in the beautiful mountains on Lake James! The morning was kicked off by a brisk 25 degrees! Unfortunately, the cold was accompanied with lots of fog and it caused an eventual hour and a half fog delay. Once the fog cleared and the boat order was set, it was off to the races for the 52 boat field! The guys and girls left in pursuit of some awesome bags of largemouth and smallmouth bass that dwell in Lake James. Eventually, the temps reached 50 degrees by the afternoon but mental toughness in the cold was a key for success!
Once we started check-in and opened the scales for weigh in, James showed up! For the third time of the season, Hunter Alexander from Rowan County Youth Fishing won the Junior division with 3.71 pounds. Taking third place in the High School division was Wesley Smith and Nick Rhoney from local Freedom High School with five fish weighing 8.69! Second place was secured by Ethan Fesperman and Hayden Hammond from ROCO weighing in four fish good for 12.73 pounds. And taking a BIG win on their home lake for the first time this season, Ty Allison and Three Young from local McDowell High School captured first place with a limit worth a whopping 15.47 pounds!!
We’d like to thank everyone for fishing the Lake James event and encourage folks to go ahead and sign up for the two Spring events scheduled on Lake Norman and High Rock Lake to get a good blast off number. We’d like to thank all of our sponsors and volunteers for making this tournament possible that include but are not limited to: Clifton Larsen Allen, Elevation Church, Scott Clark Toyota, Favorite Fishing International, Googan Baits, Andark Graphics, and the UNC Charlotte Bass Fishing Team.
