Long & Ratliff Secure Youth Win At Kerr Lake
Henderson, NC | November 10, 2018
Nineteen teams arrived at the Flemingtown Wildlife access on Kerr Lake over the weekend for event number three of the 2018/2019 NC Bassmaster Junior & High School East Series. Teams were faced with cold temperatures and winds from the Northwest at 10 – 15 mph with gust up to 20 mph. Needless to say, mother nature certainly tested the skills of these young teams. Nonetheless, seventeen teams managed to bring fish to the scales during the afternoon weigh-in.
The team of Wyatt Long and Nicholas Ratliff bested the field with their catch of 13.70 lbs, earning the duo a pair of matching plaques to showcase their win. Long and Ratliff also netted the lunker for the event with a nice largemouth weighing in at 4.72 lbs, thus gaining the pair some fishing lures provided by Z-Man Fishing Products. The tandem targeted the back side of windy points and found their fish in 6’ to 8’ of water. Using 1/2oz Z-Man Chatterbaits, the anglers slowly retrieved the lures to entice their bites among the suspended bass.
The tandem of Ethan Gilbert and Cody Anderson filled the second position with their catch of 11.26 lbs. The pair of anglers were rewarded with matching plaques signifying their accomplishment.
Alden Patterson and Judson Huey settled for the third spot with their catch of 10.20 lbs.
Rounding out the top five included the solo angler, Lance Wagoner, with his catch of 9.42 lbs and the fifth place team of Tyler McLamb and Avery Doughty with their catch of 8.69 lbs.
All anglers in participation were rewarded with free lures from Z-Man Fishing Products during the afternoon weigh-in.
Congratulations to all teams on your continued positive fish care, as all fish were released back into the water to fight again another day.
