High Rock Lake Wrap Up
Story By: Chris Corriher
The second stop of the Fall season for the 2021-22 North Carolina BASS High School and Junior Series was held at High Rock Lake! It was a cool, overcast morning at blast off for the 69 boat field. The young men and women took off in search of the chunky largemouth that swim in High Rock. Temperatures only rose into the 60’s by the afternoon, but no rain made for a pleasant day of fishing.
Leading the way in the Junior Division (13 teams), Grady Harris and Kieran Stephenson traveled from Fuquay Varina to catch an impressive five fish limit weighing 14.92 pounds. They went home with plaques and Academy gift cards. Finishing second was Hunter Harris and Luke Oberman from Riley’s Catch. Their catch of five fish for 8.42 pounds won them Academy Gift Cards as well.
In the High School Division, the team of Chan Barber and Banks Barber from Polk County took home the victory! They weighed in a very impressive 5 fish limit weighing 15.86 pounds to be crowned the champions of the 56-team field! For their efforts, they were awarded the High School Champion plaques, Water Wood Crankbaits, Gift certificates from Denver Marine, and Shimano gift certificates from Skyline Marine.
Kaden Buchman and Chase Wodzinski from RoCo Anglers finished second and won the Big Fish prize by weighing in a 12.21-pound limit anchored by a 6.13 pound largemouth! They took home plaques, Water Wood Crankbaits, and a Shimano gift certificates from Skyline Marine.
Third place was secured by a limit of 11.72 pounds caught by Matthew Norton and Ian Schroeder from Riley’s Catch. They received plaques and Water Wood crankbaits for their efforts. The fourth-place plaques were won with a 5 fish limit weighing 11.38 pounds caught by the RoCo Anglers team of Hayden Hammond and Drake Sturgill. They received Academy gift cards. Caden Moore and Gavin Mincey secured fifth place with a five fish limit weighing 11.10 pounds. The RoCo Anglers team also took home plaques and Academy gift cards.
