Falls Lake Wrap Up – March 27, 2021
Story By: Chris Corriher
Forty High School teams and three Junior Series teams ventured to Falls Lake for the fourth points event on the 2020-21 season Saturday, March 27th expecting to catch big bags of the quality largemouth bass the swim there. After a two-hour fog delay, the eighty plus anglers and their boat captains blasted off in search of the first twenty-pound bag of the season. As is sometimes the case, the bass had other ideas. Recent rains and fast approaching storms seemed to create a serious case of lockjaw for many the fish.
At the end of the day someone always finds the fish and this time it was the Riley’s Catch duo of Max and Mike Pierlott. The brothers weighed in a nice limit of five fish weighing 12.86 pounds to claim the win and the coveted High School Champions plaques! They also were awarded Shimano SLX rods and Water Wood Custom Baits.
Fishing by himself, Garrett Christy of the RoCo Anglers club landed three bass for a total of 8.94 pounds–anchored by a fat 5.48-pound bass! Those three fish were good enough to land Garrett second place plaques, Shimano SLX rods and Water Wood Custom Baits. The Freedom High team of Wesley Smith and Garren Bryant landed three solid bass that weighed in at 8.40 pounds to capture the third-place plaques and Water Wood Custom Baits.
In the Junior Series, the RoCo Angler’s team of Andrew Lamb and Alvin Martin caught four bass that weighed in at 5.67 pounds which was good enough for their first win and the first-place plaques for the Junior Series! They also were awarded tackle packs from Denver Tackle. The big fish of the tournament was a beautiful 6.70-pound giant landed by Kanton Trull and Gavian Campbell. The duo will receive hats and apparel from Woods to Water Outdoor Company.
As always, we would like to thank our sponsors: Denver Tackle, Goosehead Insurance, Skyline Marine, Water Wood Custom Baits, and Woods to Water Outdoor Company. And we need to give a shoutout to the volunteers who helped with the tournament: Todd Bare, Deanna Garmon, Ashley Keller, and all the usual clean-up crew who helped us load up to beat the storms! Thank you all! See you at Lake Hickory on April 24th!
