Riley’s Cup Results
The Annual Riley’s Cup is finally here! For six years, Riley’s Catch has hosted an annual event every Fall called the Riley’s Cup and it has become our premier event of the year in conjunction with a regular season tournament. Friday night consists of team check-ins, dinner, games, prize giveaways, and a keynote speaker at the Elevation Church Lake Norman campus! We had a great showing on Friday night. We gave away prizes like a cooler, jig packs, soft plastic packs, and gift cards from the folks at Academy Sports, Truesouth Custom Lures, and Bizz Baits!
Saturday morning came bright and early at Blythe Landing on Lake Norman and we were blessed with mild Fall weather and a breathtaking sunrise. 82 teams left the boat dock with hopes of claiming their title as champion of the Cup! After 8 hours of hard fishing, the teams came back in and the weights quickly became stacked as we started weighing fish! Once the dust had settled, Will Johnson and Isaac Westmoreland from Gaffney Fishing Team weighed in a five fish limit worth 10.09 pounds and that secured them as the winning high school team! Taking 2nd place from Rowan County Youth Fishing was Hayden Hammond and Ethan Fesperman with a limit worth 9.46. Taking 3rd place was Garrett Christy and Jake Ross with five fish for also 9.46 which created a tie! Hayden and Ethan took 2nd place over Garrett and Jake because Garrett and Jake only had 4 live fish when Hayden and Ethan had five fish that were alive.
The winners of the event Will and Isaac also took home the win for Big Fish with a spotted bass good for 3.36 pounds! Taking his second win of the season on the Middle School side was Hunter Alexander from ROCO with a limit for 5.94 pounds. Job well done to all who fished and thank you for joining us for another great year at the Riley’s Cup!
